Student Transportation Introduction

Thank you for visiting our Transportation section. Our bus drivers are often both the first and last district employee pupils see each school day.  Transportation is provided to 80 percent of our current student body.

The Transportation Department has many responsibilities, but it’s main service is safely transporting students to and from school. Other activities include notifying the news media regarding school closings, scheduling field trips throughout the District, transporting students for athletic events, maintaining our bus fleet, training individuals and new bus drivers for the district, and re-certifying our present drivers.

The department works hard each summer to get the bus fleet ready for another school year. The buses must pass a strict annual state inspection to continue to transport students.

According to state law, a district is not required to transport pupils who live within a 1-1/2 mile travel route to their public schools.

To get eligible students back and forth from their “Three R’s” classes. our bus drivers use their “Three C’s--Competence, Certification and Care.”  Safety, of course, is a major concern of our drivers and most rules that students must follow are related to this issue.

To maximize safety and efficiency, and minimize any issues that could lead to parent or school concern, a series of rules has been prepared to govern all activities.  If you have an issue that is not covered in the information that follows, feel free to contact the Transportation Coordinator, William "Mr. Bill" Zeeman, via email or by calling him at 749-3562.
