Electronic Fingerprinting Instructions

New Haven Community Schools requires ALL employees, or third-party contracted employees, and coaches, as a condition of employment, to provide fingerprints for a criminal background check upon hire.

The fingerprinting process is as follows:
If you have been recently fingerprinted for school employment with no separation in school employment, or have been regularly and continuously employed at a school, you may not need to be reprinted.  That determination will be made when you visit the Human Resources Department.
If you have not been fingerprinted for school employment before, or you've had a separation in school employment:

  • Obtain the necessary paperwork by calling the Superintendent's office at 586-749-5123, ext. 4802, to make an appointment to pick up paperwork.
  • Cost:     $60.00 to $65.00
  • Return all forms to Administration Building once you have been fingerprinted (you will not be allowed to work until this form is returned).

Third-Party Contractors (EduStaff) must obtain background check paperwork from the administration building. 
All results will be sent by the Michigan State Police to the school district and will be retained by the school district for the period of time you are employed, or for the required period of time as outlined by the by the Michigan State Police guidelines and the Michigan Record Retention guidelines. 

Criminal convictions may result in disqualification from employment with New Haven Community Schools or in dismissal from employment if an offer of employment has been made and accepted.
