We believe that food should be a source of joy and connection, especially for the awesome students of the New Haven Community School District.
Everyone deserves a place to savor their meals, hang out with friends, and have a blast at school. That's why we're all about serving up super tasty food that the kids rave about and creating programs that are all about fun and exploration.
Our fantastic food service team is all about using fresh, healthy, and locally sourced ingredients because we want the best for our students. We also love setting up cool activities that help students learn and have a blast at the same time. These activities are not just educational, they're also super exciting, sparking a sense of wonder and joy in our students.
We're thrilled to partner with SFE as our food service provider, and every day, our mission is to make sure that the students at New Haven Community Schools leave the cafeteria feeling happier and healthier. To learn more about our food service partner, check out https://sfellc.com!
Food allergies are more common than you think; even a tiny trace of an allergen can cause a severe reaction. That’s why it’s important always to check ingredient labels, avoid cross-contact in food preparation, and take allergies seriously. If your child has a food allergy or special dietary need, please fill out the linked Special Diet Form and return it to your student's school secretary.
Together, we can create a safer, more inclusive environment for everyone—because no meal should come with a risk.
On January 31, New Haven High School welcomed Stephen Ritz for a Roving Chef event, where he engaged students in discussions on sustainability and healthy eating. During lunch, Ritz interacted with students and, between periods, joined General Manager Mark Raupp and Chef Kevin Peasgood for an interactive cooking demo featuring the vegetarian Mother Earth Burger. Students sampled the dish, received recipe cards, and participated in a hands-on lesson on food sustainability. The event provided a fun, educational experience, reaching over 200 students throughout the day.
New Haven Community Schools celebrated National School Lunch Week (NSLW) 2024 with the theme “Find Your Treasure,” turning healthy eating into an exciting adventure. Each day featured themed meals and activities like the "Healthy Treasure Hunt," where students discovered the nutritional "gems" in fruits, veggies, and balanced meals. Cafeteria staff dressed as pirates, and students earned prizes by completing treasure maps of healthy choices. The week also featured a “Local Farm-to-School Treasure Day,” promoting locally sourced food. The event made healthy eating fun and educational, encouraging students to treasure nutritious meals year-round.
The State of Michigan School Meals offers high-quality food that supports student learning. With new state funding, all students can enjoy a free breakfast and lunch daily throughout the school year.
Our food service department has openings with SFE in New Haven Schools. We offer competitive pay and a Monday through Friday schedule, with nights, weekends, and holidays off so you can spend quality time with your family! To apply, visit sfellc.com/careers and search for New Haven Schools 48048.
