Welcome to New Haven High School

NHHS Summer School Communication

NHHS Parents and Guardians,

In an effort to help families plan ahead for summer break, we are sharing our summer school information with you a bit early this year.  Included with this email you will find both of our summer school program registration forms along with information regarding both programs.

Traditional Summer School – Summer School offered to students who failed a course with a final semester grade at or below 44%.  Students will have eight weeks to complete their course.  Students may shorten the length of summer school by completing the course before the end of the eight-week period.  Students are to work at the high school on designated days and times, but have access 24/7 to work ahead and complete their course early.

Cost: $175 (per semester course)

Duration: 8 weeks (June 21st through August 13th)

Locations: NHHS Computer Lap Room 133

Registration Forms: Summer School Registration Form 2021

Unit Based Summer School – Summer School program offered to students who failed a given course with a final semester grade at or above 45%.  Students will be given one unit from the course they failed.  They will have one week to complete and pass that unit to recoup credit for that course.  If additional time is needed, an additional $25/week will be required.  Students are required to be in the building for summer school.  Work can be accessed 24/7 so that students may work ahead to complete their unit.

Cost: $25 (per week, per semester course)

Duration: 1 week (starting June 21st through August 13th)

Locations: NHHS Computer Lap Room 133

Registration Forms:  Summer School Registration Form 2021

If you have any questions regarding our summer school options, please contact the counseling department at the high school (sverellen@newhaven.misd.net or dbrohl@newhaven.misd.net) or give us a call at 586-749-5104.  You may start registering immediately with the counseling department for classes that were failed first semester (S1).  Semester two (S2) grades will be made available on June 14th through PowerSchool.

2021 Prom

NHHS Junior and Senior parents and families,

As shared in an earlier communication, we are hoping to hold a junior/senior prom on May 27th.  The event would be more of a movie night with light dancing, food trucks, and other activities.  To hold this event, we must sell a minimum number of tickets.  To this point, we have not met the minimum ticket requirement and may have to cancel the event.  If your student is planning on attending on the 27th, please have them stop by room 134 and see Mrs. Bri Martin today or tomorrow at the latest.  If your student is virtual, please have them reach out to Mrs. Martin via her school email (brimartin@newhaven.misd.net) before 2:20pm on Friday, May 14th.

We are aware that other events/activities are being planned outside of the school district.  We encourage your students to be safe and to follow the safety protocols provided by the health department.  As a reminder, graduation is on June 6th and students quarantined will not be permitted to attend.
